Janice England, is the Deaf Victim Advocate for the L.E.A.D. Institute. She provides a direct service of crisis intervention and court advocacy to Deaf/Hard of Hearing victims of crime as well educating about Deaf Culture for shelters, agencies, law enforcement and hospitals. Ms. England, born deaf, graduated from Missouri School for the Deaf and Gallaudet University, the only deaf university in liberal arts in United States. She earned a M.Ed., specializing in Rehabiliation Counselor from University of Missouri in Columbia in 2006. Ms. England holds several certifications, among them: Certified Rehabiliation Counselor (CRC), Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Crisis Response Team of the Deaf (NCRTD), and Communication Assistance from Missouri Department of Mental Health. Aside from work, she is involved with many organizations in the community such as American Deafness & Rehabilitation Association (ADARA), Greater Columbia Association of the Deaf (GCAD), Missouri Association of the Deaf (MoAD), and Missouri School for the Deaf Alumni Association (MSDAA). |
